Jeffrey
Moyer - Statement
Jeffrey Moyer is primarily a water
color painter. He also works in other media including
print making and stained glass. He is also occasionally
a landscape designer. Jeffrey's work is strongly
influenced by historical and cultural interests including
ancient Egypt, early Mesoamerican civilizations and
more recently, Southeast Asia. He lived and worked
in Wales for 10 years. Accordingly, there is a pervasive
Celtic theme, even when the subject is not specifically
of that culture. Stylistically,
Jeffrey's work is influenced by eastern art and surrealism.
He intends to project a sense of organic unity and
rhythmic harmony. Rhythmic relationships constitute
the real compositional structure of his work. There
is also frequently a mystical or otherworldly tone,
underlaid by an attempt to challenge the conventional
perception of time-space relationships.
